ATHLETIC PRACTICE FIELDS
DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA
Through a design-build team headed by contractor Romeo Guest Associates, Integrated Design provided architectural services to Duke University for the Athletic Practice Fields on Frank Bassett Drive.
Located across the street from Koskinen Stadium, the facility will be utilized as the new practice location for Duke’s men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse programs. The fields will also be used for a number of Duke’s sport club teams, including rugby, soccer, lacrosse, and ultimate Frisbee, as well as intramural sports.
The Athletic Field Complex consists of three fields: two state of the art turf fields installed by AstroTurf and one Bermuda sod field with a superior drainage system. The project included sports lighting, decorative fencing, and a new sports equipment storage facility. The storage building houses a video room for the use of Duke’s varsity athletics programs. The fields are equipped with nine video cameras, all of which will be wired back to a central control room, so teams can further analyze videotapes from their practices.
Field design was completed in association with Millennium Sports Technologies.
